Investors play a big role in the growth and overall success of the business. When we are doing a business, there are many key stakeholders that we need to keep happy. One of them is the investors. And they must be treated well and accommodated whenever needed. Unless a business does that successfully, there are no chances of its expansion or overall success. Many companies around the globe are now seeing the need to have a proper investor relations department that keeps the company and the interest of these stakeholders both on the table.

In this blog, we will talk about the few investor relation trends observed in 2021; after all, it has been the busiest year that had to battle the pandemic and keep customers and investors happy. Keep reading further to know about the trends that followed this year.

Importance of investor relations

Investors have a key role in a business’s success, and because of that, companies have to make sure that they keep strong, professional, and transparent relations with the investors. Usually, investor relations departments in the company or agencies that specialize in investor relations come into play.

The trends

Due to the uncertain climates in the business world caused by the pandemic, both the companies and their investors are uncertain about how things will roll out in the future. Therefore in 2020 and 2021, we saw that increased communications kept everyone at pace, whether through emails, phone, or meetings. The investors are all about the story; they want to know what is happening in the business. But they want the story to be told under certain parameters. Those parameters entail corporate strategy, survival and growth plans, return on investment are all part of the big message.

Digital opened up new prospects for IR

Due to the constraints around mobility amid coronavirus outbreak, most businesses used digital means to stay connected with their stakeholders. Although the investor relation leaders saw some challenges, for instance, the zoom meetings were not as easy as they seemed. It was hard to get people to show up at an online meeting and ensure those meetings are valuable. On the bright side, businesses found a new set of investors through digital means.

Disclosures

More and more investors are getting nosey and want to know more about the business’s confidential workings; however, IR leaders in businesses have to make sure they do not spill all the beans and conduct meetings with investors in a controlled environment.

Control audience

It’s a dilemma that companies are facing whether to address media through the IR department or public relations department. However, it has been determined that investors and journalists are separate audiences. Though IR teams can allow journalists to speak to them, they will only speak to analysts.
